3 Holiday Decor Ideas To Create Your Personal Winter Wonderland

December is in full swing, the holiday season is here, and we are counting down the days until Christmas. We all know that this holiday season looks a lot different than our usual Christmas season, but it is important that we make the most of what we can do. One of our favorite holiday traditions is bundling up with a cup of cocoa in hand and driving through all of the neighborhood holiday lights. A great way to spread Christmas cheer this year is decorating your landscape for you, your family and your neighbors to enjoy—we have 3 ways to spark some ideas this holiday season!

Outdoor Christmas Lights

’Tis the season to deck the halls with bright and flashy lights! Bright lights are essential when it comes to decorating, especially outdoors. When you illuminate your landscape with festive and colorful patterns, your home is sure to be show stopping!

Putting up string lights is one of the most common ways people decorate their homes for the holidays. Some ways to use them are to: outline your windows, doors, and the frame of your house. You can also wrap them around posts or railings and drape them around your trees and shrubs.

Laser light projectors are becoming a more and more popular way to decorate your home. It is one of the easiest ways to decorate the outside of your home for Christmas. All you have to do is purchase a small projector, place it on your lawn, point it in the right direction, and ta-da! It will place the perfect, colorful pattern on your home with no hassle.

Outdoor Holiday Decor

Lights are very essential, but there are other things you can do to decorate the outside of your home as well. Here are some of our favorite outdoor Christmas decor ideas:

Wreaths are classic, simple, and you can‘t go wrong with a beautiful fresh-cut evergreen wreath. Feeling crafty? You can absolutely add your own touches to your holiday wreath as well. Stop by the craft store, pick up some hot-glue, and add your own personal holiday favorites as well.

Lawn Ornaments are a fun way to make your home a holiday destination for those driving or walking by. Pre-lit reindeer, candy canes, or even nativity scenes and elements that always look beautiful and elegant. Inflatables are also getting more popular, if you want to add a snow globe or an inflatable Santa as well!

Winter Landscape Design

Last but not least, we couldn’t talk about holiday decor without mentioning our favorite holiday plants. These “decorations” are more long term and will need maintenance, but they will be beautiful come the holiday season. It may be too late this year to plant, but it does’t mean you can’t start planning now for next season.

Holly shrubs make great hedges for your front yard. The eye-catching red berries make for great winter color and they can be clipped and added to other holiday decor.

Winterberry is another fabulous shrub to add life to the winter landscape. The leaves will fall away in the winter, but the vibrant red berries will remain. Your Winterberry will also attract birds!

With these few elements, you are able to create your own personalized winter wonderland. You will feel the holiday spirit all around you, along with your family and neighbors alike. We are wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday season here at Land Art Design!
